The first 60 seconds

Lets get straight to it...

Real fights usually start in one of two ways:

(1) The sudden ambush

(2) The slow-burn argument that turns into a fight

The second one — the escalating conflict — happens about 95% of the time, which means you get a small but powerful window to take control before anything physical happens.

Here’s what that window is for:

Secret #1: Breathe before you react.

If your breathing spikes, you lose your brain. You make bad decisions. You get tunnel vision.

Control your breath → control the situation.

Secret #2: Keep space.

Most people let strangers drift too close. Distance gives you clarity and options. It also stops you from getting sucker-punched.

Secret #3: Read the threat.

Not what “style” he is— but what he’s about to do. Is he frantic? Is he measured? Is he bluffing? Is he about to rush you?

This tells you everything.

Secret #4: Shift the momentum with POT-SHOTING

This is the part almost nobody talks about.

Pot-shotting isn’t about specific techniques — it’s about mentally breaking the other guy's confidence before the real fight even starts.

It’s the stage where you:

  • disrupt his rhythm
  • make him hesitate
  • force him to react instead of act
  • chip away at his confidence
  • keep him guessing

Most fights are won right here — before anyone realizes it.

Scret #5: When his confidence cracks… it’s time for THE RALLY.

The rally isn’t a move. It’s a decision.

It’s the moment you recognize:

  • he’s flinching now
  • he’s reacting, not thinking
  • his posture collapsed
  • his aggression dipped
  • he’s overwhelmed

That’s when you end the encounter. Clean. Decisive. No dragging it out. No back-and-forth. Just a clear termination of the threat so you can get home safe.

Pot-shotting creates the opportunity. The rally closes the deal.

Together, they decide the fight.

P.S. If you want to learn more about the Rally and street fighting then the replay of my July 2022 - The 35th anniversary webinar might be of great interest to you.

Here is some of what you will discover in the July 2022 replay:

  • The 6 “immutable” ways a human body reacts to a straight blast… and why understanding these 6 is like having the cheat codes for real fights.
  • How Dan Inosanto quietly “turbo-charged” the Wing Chun blast for Paul with just two tweaks… and why those tweaks instantly make you harder to block.
  • he 3-level “dumb-simple” law enforcement system Paul teaches police officers so they don’t have to think under stress (and why it works just as well for civilians).
  • The one “best shot” Paul aims at the first man in a 3-on-1 wall situation… and how he uses that instant of chaos to carve out a winnable one-on-one.
  • The bizarre reason some disarms will literally cut your own hand open if you try them against a blade… and the simple angle shift that fixes it.
  • Much much more...

Use code: rally in the cart and save a few pot shots on the price.
